Alternative Breaks (AB) Participants attend a one-week, service-learning trip to one of two destinations with a social issue focus. Spring break trips are: The State of Immigration in McAllen, TX and Active Citizenship in New Orleans, LA. Service-learning involves transformative learning, consistent reflection, and meaningful community service in order to contribute to social justice initiatives.
If accepted, participants agree to abide by all UT and AB policies and procedures, and uphold the five core values of AB: Learning, Community, Service, Simplicity and Active Citizenship and to attend the following dates:
Spring Meetings: Every Sunday, January 28th - March 3rd; 3:00-5:00 PM
Re-Orientation: Sunday, March 24th; Time TBD
The total program cost per person to attend is:

-- $150 South Texas
*Selected participants must help plan and execute fundraising activities to help fund the trip.
These events are mandatory and your attendance will determine your eligibility in the program.
