We are excited to announce the start of a new Youth Gender Action Plan (YGAP) national process. Youth organisations, school/university groups, faith-based groups, and any interested young persons between the ages of 13-25 years of age in South Africa are invited to join this process as a national leader. The new YGAP will become a guide for youth, decision-makers, civil society, business, academia and other relevant stakeholders, to inspire more coordinated, intersectional and inclusive action on areas related to gender. The YGAP process is being led by the Youth Programmes at the South African Institute of International Affairs (Youth@SAIIA) and the Youth Policy Committee (YPC) in partnership with various
organisations, schools, and university groups across South Africa.
Interested young people are invited to apply to join the national YGAP process. Throughout the national process, young individuals will focus on the pillars/framework for the YGAP while focusing on cross-cutting issues that relate to gender. YGAP leaders must be willing to work with a diverse group of young people from across South Africa at different points between October 2022 to June 2023. YGAP leaders will additionally be invited to join roundtable discussions and consultations with government, business, academia and civil society to share their views and further develop their skills and understanding of gender related policy areas and intersectional issues.
All participants 18 and under will need permission from their parents/guardians to participate. Please send any questions to youth@saiia.org.za.
