Waco February 8 Swiss - Registration

 (Enter through main door and turn right. Tournament room is at the end of Parish Hall.)

4 Rounds at a time control of G/45;d5 (45 minutes with a 5 second delay)

3 Sections: 
  • Championship (minimum rating of 1400)
  • Under 1600 (minimum rating of 800) 
  • Under 1000 

Notes on Sections:
  • Players rated 1400-1599 may play in Under 1600 or play up to Championship.
  • Players rated 800-999 may play in Under 1000 or play up to Under 1600.
  • Most unrated players should play in the Under 1000 section. Please email us if you are unrated and want to play in a higher section.
  • We go by monthly published ratings, but if your live current rating goes up before the tournament, you may email us and request to move up to a higher section.
                
Registration & Check-in: 9:00 to 9:20 AM.
 (*Because we do not accept payment in advance,  players not checked in by 9:20 am will NOT be paired in Round 1 -unless you notify us that you are on the way.  If you are registered, but can no longer play, please let us know.)

Round Times: 
  • Round 1- 9:30 AM
  • Round 2- 11:15 AM 
  • Round 3- 1:30 PM 
  • Round 4- 3:15 PM

Entry Fee: $20 CASH (no credit, no debit) upon arrival.  Exact change is appreciated!
Cash Prizes- Based on the number of entries. The prize list will be posted on-site, after the start of Round 1.

Notation is required.  We provide notation sheets if you don't have your own.  Please bring a pen or pencil.

Please bring a chess clock if you have one.  The club has a limited supply.  Chess sets are provided. 

For those new to tournaments: Swiss means all players will play all 4 rounds, unless there is a requested bye (1/2 point) because you need to miss a round or an assigned bye (full point) due to uneven sections.

Section   (Please pay attention to the rating restrictions for each section.  You will be moved to the correct section if your rating doesn't qualify for the registered section.) *
 Bye Request  Must be requested before the start of round 1.  (A Bye means you are requesting to not play that round.)  A limit of one half-point bye allowed per tournament. Additional requested byes will be zero points. *

$20 CASH is due upon arrival at the tournament venue. Exact Change is preferred!   Please check in and pay by 9:20am

Registration is your commitment to attend the tournament. If you register and you find you can no longer attend, please email the TDs (Daniel) daniel_m_shafer@baylor.edu or  (Deborah) dshaferchess@yahoo.com to inform them. (Anyone who is a no-show for this tournament, WILL NOT be allowed to register for the next tournament. We understand that things come up- even last minute. Please just let us know.)

*1 week before the tournament, you will be emailed a confirmation form.  Please fill out the form with a Yes, No, or Maybe.  If you do not respond after several notifications, your spot may be given to a waiting list player. (**If you register within a week of the tournament, you will automatically be put down as confirmed -yes.)

Please respect the venue site.       
**1** The sanctuary is off limits during the tournament. Please do not allow children to enter.   
**2** Please clean up after yourself and throw away any trash or food crumbs.  Place all food/drink trash in large black trash can in tournament room or lobby. Do not leave paper towels or toilet paper on bathroom floor. No food or drink is allowed in the small parlor waiting room.   You may eat in the main lobby or extra back tables in tournament room.
**3**  You may bring extra chairs from the back of the tournament room to the lobby.  If you move any chairs or furniture, please return them to the original location before leaving. You may bring your own folding chairs for the waiting area.
**4** Please tell your children there is no running inside the church building.  You may take them to the playground if they want to run. Children may NOT touch the outside church bell or ropes. Parents are responsible for supervising their children.
