This scholarship has the ability to cover registration fees as well as to go towards the travel/food/gear stipend in hopes to expand access to those who might not be able to attend otherwise due to financial reasons. Unruly Women prioritizes support for individuals who have been historically excluded and underrepresented in outdoor spaces.
This scholarship is offered as a sliding scale, in hopes to reach as many women as possible, whether you need a little help - or a full scholarship, this is for you.
Please keep in mind that for all Unruly Women backpacking adventures....
All individuals must be able to hike roughly 2-10 miles with a 40# backpack over varying terrain - distance and terrain dependent upon adventure location.
All individuals are responsible for their own transportation - including all travel to and from the trailhead.
All individuals must have their own gear for the retreats - whether rented or otherwise - full gear list provided prior to retreat.
All individuals are required to bring their own food - (dry meals are encouraged - requiring boil to rehydrate method, and/or simple lightweight foods (to help keep the weight of the backpack lower) full list of recommendations provided prior to retreat.
The gear that Unruly Women does provide for each individual to use (or share) if needed during the retreats: backpacking backpacks, bear bag and paracord, water filtration systems, jet boil for boiling water, matches/lighter, aero-press, coffee/teas, cat-hole shovel, med-kit (not including epi-pen or prescription medication or life saving/emergency medication), bear spray, GPS device with emergency service, multi-tool.
