PO Box 762, Squaw Valley, CA. 93675

Oak to Timberline Fire Safe Council (OTFSC) is a non-profit, grant funded organization made up of a small, committed group of neighbors who live in the communities of Pinehurst, Miramonte, Badger, Dunlap, Squaw Valley, and Wonder Val-ley, CA.

Our mission statement is: Neighbors saving lives and property, helping protect the community from the dangers of wildfire.

We are a volunteer organization that is fully committed to this important mission.

We think you will find, as we do, that volunteering for our community is a worth-while endeavor for some of the following reasons:

1. it provides a sense of purpose and satisfaction to contribute to making meaningful differences in the community,

2. it provides and enhances a sense of community,

3. it provides opportunities for social connections and new friendships,

4. it improves and enhances our overall health and sense of wellbeing, and

5. it reflects the values of shared responsibility for the health of our environment.

Completion of this form will help you understand what volunteering for OTFSC entails and the commitment required for this important leadership position. It also helps to know what skill sets that the Board regularly uses to do its work, though no particular skills sets are required. All contributions are highly valued.

Each member of the Board of Directors is expected to devote approximately1.5 hours per month to attend regular Board meetings, and participate in at least one committee. These additional commitments usually span from 1-6 hours per month. Board and committee meetings may be done online. It is expected that each member will be (ordinarily) available to read and promptly answer all organizational emails, texts or phone calls.

Our best decisions are made when each member shares their expertise, thoughts and opinions on matters before the Board. Diversity is highly valued and essential to our success. Members are thereby expected to actively engageĀ in the decision making processes, as well as keep all commitments made (unless reasonable obstacles exist) within the applicable timeframes.

We have created a solid culture that respects and encourages differences of opinions to be openly shared. All members, therefore, are required to treat each other, our partners, and the public with respect, dignity and kindness. Also, all activities on behalf of the Board must be done with the utmost integrity, always operating within the bounds of applicable laws, regulations, and inline with the current By-Laws of the organization.

Thank you for your interest in joining OTFSC. By signing below you are signaling your interest and can agree to the terms described above. Each term of service to the Board of Directors last for 2 years, though you may resign at any time, and will be eligible for re-election if you choose to stay on for additional terms.
