VT-TYME Application (Spring 2021)
The Virginia Tech Talented Young Mathematicians e-Day (VT-TYME) will take place online on Saturday, April 17, 2021.

VT-TYME seeks to promote mathematical culture, increase the visibility of women in mathematics, and introduce higher level mathematics and careers in mathematics to college freshmen and students entering college in the near future. We hope to achieve this goal by facilitating small group discussions and hands-on mathematics activities using algebra and differential equations to a small group of math enthusiasts. Our goal is to stimulate an interest in mathematics by introducing areas of mathematics that students may not be exposed to in their traditional curriculum. This program is organized by the Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) Chapter at Virginia Tech.

The participants will have the opportunity to hear a plenary speaker who will give an overview of career paths in mathematics and discuss their area of research. Participants be split into small groups and guided through two activities using materials mailed to their home address. This serves as a great opportunity for participants to interact with other High School students as well as Virginia Tech undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty.

More information about VT-TYME can be found on the official VT-TYME website: https://sites.google.com/vt.edu/awm/vt-tyme?authuser=0
