Conversation Partners Sign-Up, Fall 2021
Whether this is your first semester as a Conversation Partner or your eighth, thank you very much for being a part of this program and for allowing us to offer it to the students studying Global Cultures and Languages at UWL.

Conversation Partners is a program of the Language Resource Center at 321 Graff Main Hall. It begins the second week of each semester with an orientation session for volunteers. In the third week of classes, conversation partners begin meeting with students one-on-one for fifteen minutes each.

The program runs ten consecutive weeks, and an eleventh week is available for students who would like to make up for a conversation they missed or get extra practice (or credit) before the end of the semester.

Conversation partners are required to attend four monthly meetings throughout the semester. Meeting dates and times are listed below. If you know that attending these meetings will pose a significant issue for you, please do not volunteer for this program. Conversation partners who have served four or more semesters are allowed one excused absence from monthly meetings.

Important Dates:
Sept. 7: First day of classes. Students begin signing up for a weekly time slot to meet with a conversation partner.
Sept. 14 and 15: Orientation sessions I and II at 6pm. Volunteers are required to attend one orientation session.
Sept. 20: Conversation partner meetings begin.
Sept. 21 and 22: Monthly training meetings 1a and 1b at 6pm. Monthly meetings are required for all volunteers. Please attend either meeting on Tuesday or Wednesday evening.
Oct. 19 and 20: Monthly training meetings 2a and 2b at 6pm.
Nov. 16 and 17: Monthly training meetings 3a and 3b at 6pm.
Dec. 7 and 8: Monthly training meetings 4a and 4b at 6pm.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Dane DeVetter at ddevetter@uwlax.edu.
