EXTENSIVE READING WORKSHOP
Extensive Reading Workshop: Registration Open

The Office of International Development and External Affairs in cooperation with the Faculty of Education announces the opening of registration for an Extensive Reading workshop with an international instructor.
Description:
Improve your English by developing a 30-minute daily reading habit.
In Extensive Reading, a learner independently and silently reads a lot of material which is at the right level. In involves reading large amounts with the aim of getting an overall understanding of
the material, and readers are more concerned with the overall meaning of the text than the meaning of individual words or sentences. The reading material should be relatively easy for the learner to understand. Longer texts are often preferred. Reading them should be an enjoyable experience. Learners will be free to select texts on topics they find interesting.
The reading should be done at the student’s own pace and when and
where the student chooses.
Here are some factors that help to create an English language Extensive Reading habit:
1. An initial pleasant reading experience.
2. Access to interesting reading material.
3. A time and place to read regularly.
4. The freedom to select one’s own reading.
5. No tests, no workbook exercises, and no rewards for reading.
