Welcome to our curiosity building campaign! We know it's tough to slow down at times and pursue an interest or passion just because. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: (Jan. 28, 3-3:30) - Explore advancements in self-driving cars, cybersecurity, etc. with a teacher-of-the-year from CU Denver, Prof. Dan Connors

BIOCHEMISTRY of FOOD and NUTRITION: (Jan. 20, 2-3 pm) Charismatic MSU chemistry professor Andrew Bonham wants to share his passion on the science of food and nutrition.

BIOENGINEERING: (January 11, 2-3 pm) Join admired CU Anschutz professor Keith Neeves as he gives you a chance to play bioengineer imagining a medical technology solution for a problem doctors face, followed by a peek into his own research and the whole field.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE: (Thurs., Dec. 3, 3-4 pm) Join us for another round of a popular session from last year run by CU Denver professor Lonnie Schaible. You'll dig into interesting research in the areas of policing, police brutality, juvenile justice, sentencing laws, etc.

ENGLISH/SOCIOLOGY: (Jan. 29, 3-4 pm) Dynamic Professor Craig Svonkin from the English dept. at Metro State will help you understand some of the mysteries behind the bond and power of family, drawing from all sorts of sources in literature.

ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE/INTERNATIONAL POLITICS: (Jan. 27, 3-4 pm) Come to a different take on the climate crisis. Join Metro State’s political scientist Prof. Andy Thangasamy as he guides you through a case study in the geopolitical world of South Asia where different values and political realities impact the climate crisis.

FINANCIAL INVESTMENT: (Wed., Dec. 2, 3-4 pm) Want to learn some basics (and secrets) about investing and managing your money? Join experts Josh Benninghoff and Amy Canfield as they lead you through an entertaining crash course. (Students have loved them.)

GRAPHIC DESIGN -- (Fri., Dec. 4, 2-3 pm) The founding partner of ArtHouse Design Marty Gregg, who’s been hosting this popular event for years, wants to talk to you about the interesting challenges and inspirations of the graphic design world.

LAW/SOCIAL JUSTICE -- (Thurs., Dec. 3, 2-3 pm) Work in small groups with two recent law graduates and University of Denver Law School’s Assistant Dean of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Alexi Freeman to create a plan for how legal and policy strategies can fight multiple racial justice crises in a city.

MEDICINE: Would you like a taste of med school? We lucked into a bank of actual CU Med School professors lecturing on fascinating topics -- Vaccines in the COVID Era, How Doctors Think (and Make Diagnoses), A Day-in-the-Life of an Ear, Nose, and Throat Doctor. Not an interactive Zoom session, sign-up here if you’d like us to send you the full bank of lectures.

PHILOSOPHY (on happiness): (Mon., Nov. 30, 2:30-3:30) We spend pretty much every waking (and possibly sleeping) moment in search of this? What is “it”? If you guessed hot cheetos, go grab some lunch. With cheetos in hand, join MSU’s philosophy professor Adam Graves and two of his colleagues to explore the nature of happiness, which civilizations have been studying for thousands of years.

PHILOSOPHY: (on skepticism): If you want to kick around the big idea “How do we know what we know” with two experts from MSU in the philosophy dept., they’d love to have some of DPS’s big thinkers on hand.

PHYSICS/ASTROPHYSICS: MSU Physics Professor Grant Denn wants to get you a little closer to a black hole. How, you’re wondering? Well, he’s going to show you techniques for taking a photograph of one and along the way tell you things you might not know about them. This session won’t be available until April (he and his wife just had twins), BUT please sign up here since it’s bound to be a popular one.

PSYCHOLOGY/SOCIAL WORK: (Dec. 10, 2-3 pm) Join DU psychology professor Kim Gorgens and colleagues to learn about the interesting things happening in DU’s social work, forensic/crime, and psychology departments. They’ll even give you a case study to chew on so you can play psychologist.
