American photojournalist Torin Boyd has been concentrating on modern day Japan and Asia since 1986. He has worked in over twenty countries and throughout the 1990s was a contract photographer for U.S. News and World Report. He has also photographed for many of the world's leading publications including National Geographic, LIFE, Newsweek, People, Time, New York Times, L'Express, Business Week, Fortune, Bloomberg, Handelsblatt, Financial Times and numerous in-flight airline magazines. Prior to his career in Japan, he was a newspaper photographer in Florida during the late 1970s and early 1980s as well as a photographer for NASA and various surfing magazines. He has also participated on several publishing projects including the popular Day In the Life of book series. In addition to his camera work, he is a photo historian specializing in Japan from the 1860s to the 1960s and has co-authored two books on the subject, lectured, and produced exhibitions and documentary films about unsung heroes. Boyd will speak about how his experience as a photojournalist and his current film project on Stanley Troutman, the celebrated Pasadena-born war correspondent, have catalyzed change for himself and his audience.
