LREI Laptop Use Agreement (2023-2024)
Little Red School House & Elisabeth Irwin High School’s (LREI) network and computing facilities are intended to enrich the academic experience of students, faculty, and staff. Specifically, we enhance learning and teaching through access to information, research, interpersonal communication, collaboration, and dissemination of materials. LREI is pleased to provide and support the hardware and software which enhance the progressive curriculum of the School across all three divisions. Their use entails the same privileges, obligations, and responsibilities that come with using any school facility. Computing resources are an extension of the school’s physical environment. The guidelines for expectations can be found in the Student Handbook.

The policies, procedures and information that follow apply to the 1:1 device program at LREI covering MacBooks in the HS and Chromebooks in the LS and MS.  Each device provided for a student to use is and remains the property of LREI.

Please discuss this policy at home. Technology is an ever present part of the lives of students both at School and at home. Note that in addition to the general guidelines set out in the Student Handbook (MS handbook here; HS handbook here) and specified in the Technology Use Policy section, teachers and administrators may set additional requirements for use in the classroom. Students must abide by the school rules outlined in the Student Handbook as well as any rules pertaining to individual classrooms or community spaces at school.

"I understand that if my child loses their assigned device or if it is damaged and determined by the School that this is the result of negligence by my child or by anyone else other than the School, our family will be held responsible for the full cost of repairs or for the full replacement cost of the device: $450 for a Chromebook and $900 for a MacBook. If my child loses the provided charger for their device, we are responsible for purchasing a new one and returning it to the school when the device is returned."

Device Insurance
The school provides insurance against damage and loss under the TUP against normal accidents and damages. In the instance of negligent treatment of the device, the insurance policy will cover one replacement for an academic year after which the cost of insuring the replaced device will increase should the replacement device be enrolled in the insurance plan.

The cost of this insurance will be as follows for 2023-2024:
For Chromebooks: $50
For MacBooks: $100

For those families who qualify for financial support from LREI the premium schedule will be:
For Chromebooks: $25
For MacBooks: $50
