Thank you for your interest in the Junior Coaching program with SCRA. Please take a few moments to review the requirements of this role, and then complete the following questions.
No experience is needed to be a Junior Coach. However, there are some requirements:
- Junior Coaches must be at least 14 years old and no older than 17 by September 1 (if you are less than 14, you can apply by December 1 - You have to have your certification completed by December 15)
- Junior Coaches must be currently playing on a team or played on a team last year.
- Junior Coaches must get a police check done once they turn 16. You need to apply in person at a police station (if under 18) with a SCRA Volunteer Letter found on the Coaches page of the website.
- Upon placement, Junior Coaches are required to complete the Coach Initiation eModule as found on the Ringette Alberta website: Coach Initiation eModule
These requirements must be completed by November 30 or the Junior Coach will not be allowed on the ice or interact with the team until completed.
Junior coaches can request specific teams/coaches to work with, but it is not necessary. SCRA will do its best to make appropriate placements given existing teams, number and availability of applicants, and special requests.
Unless agreed to by the majority of parents, travel expenses for junior coaches are not the responsibility of the team.
