District Policy
Employees are expected to comply with the provisions of federal copyright law relating to the unauthorized use, reproduction, distribution, performance, or display of copyrighted materials (i.e., printed material, videos, computer data and programs, etc.). Electronic media, including motion pictures and other audiovisual works, are to be used in the classroom for instructional
purposes only. Duplication or backup of computer programs and data must be made within the provisions of the purchase agreement.
Works, for purposes of copyright protection, include the following categories:
• Literary works
• Musical works
• Dramatic works
• Pantomimes and choreography
• Pictorial, graphic and sculptural works
• Motion pictures and other audiovisual works
• Sound recordings
• Architectural works
Public Domain
If the work was published before 1923, you are in the clear.
