Below is a list of potential volunteer opportunities for the 2023-24 school year. Please take a minute and let us know what activities you are interested in helping with/learning about this year. Completing this form does not obligate you to any event - this form is purely to gauge interest so we can reach out to you during the year.

Please note - all volunteers who will be working with students are required to have a background check/fingerprinting performed at SAU 70. Fingerprinting/background checks are valid for 2 years - if you have been through the process for the school district since the 2023-24 school year, you will not need to complete the process this year.

Teacher Appreciation activities

Reception for Class of 2024 - hosted by the Junior Class (organize desserts, drinks, volunteers etc. for Class Day)

supply snacks for upcoming staff meeting (separate calendar will be sent to sign up for date/food item)

Chaperone/driver for field trips

New Family Liaison - connect with families new to the school

Math: tutoring students

Math: speaking about math in your profession

French: tutoring

Spanish: tutoring

German: tutoring

Latin: tutoring

Computer Science: tutoring students (in C or Python) and/or speaking about computer science in your profession

Science: Speaking about biology, chemistry, or physics in your profession to classes

English: tutor

English: guest speaker

Art show help: Publicity, hanging work at the Howe Library show in January and/or at the end of year show at the end of May

Student Health Screenings: Clerical

Student Health Screenings: Nursing

Helping with/co-creating March Intensive

typing/clerical/computer work

Helping with Independent Study/Senior Bridges (see followup below)

What does it entail?:

-be interviewed once by a student

- meet with a student two or three times a quarter

-host an intern and or mentor an interested student.

Given that the high school doesn't have a dedicated PTO to raise funds and support our faculty/staff, we thought a weekly raffle/door prize of donated goods (not to exceed $25) would be a great way to show community support for the hard work put forth by all at HHS throughout the school year. If you or your business has something small to offer for one of these giveaways (a gift card, homemade baked goods, flowers from your garden, a service you provide...anything really!) please let me know! Thanks for considering!
