2022 State Convention Opportunities to Help
We would appreciate your help making the 2022 state convention of the National Federation of the Blind of Pennsylvania the best convention it could possibly be. We have a number of ways you can help, so please read all of the options below and let us know which one or two most interest you and align with your personal interests and abilities. We do not want to stretch anyone's time and energy too far, which is why we ask you to choose only your top one or two choices below. We are grateful for every bit of help you can provide.

Social Media and Publicity Team
We need people to help publicize the convention using multiple social media platforms before, during, and after the convention. Familiarity with mobile devices, computers, and social media apps is necessary. Plus, we need people to write articles for local newspapers, create promotional audio/video clips, and post our messages on various platforms to advance the work of the NFB of Pennsylvania.
Grant Writing and Sponsors Search Team
We need people to help obtain grants and sponsorships to help make the convention more affordable for everybody. Writing and research skills are necessary.
Senior Possibilities Fair Team
We plan to hold a Possibilities Fair for older adults losing vision during the Thursday morning of the convention. We need people to help plan and execute this event. If you plan to help in person, please be aware that you will have to arrive early to the convention so you can be ready to help early Thursday morning, November 10, 2022.
Celebration of our Veterans Event Team
We will hold a celebration of our past and present veterans during the Thursday evening of the convention. We need people to help plan and execute this event.
Talent Show Team
Back by popular demand, we will be holding our second annual talent show during the Friday evening of the convention. We need people to help find the talent, plan the event, and run its operation.
Exhibit Hall Team
One of the highlights of our convention is the exhibit hall. We need people  to help find exhibitors, coordinate the setup of the hall, and help exhibitors with any issues that arise during the convention.
Auction Team
Another highlight of our convention is the auction. This year we will use a combination of online, silent, and live auctioning, so we will need people to help manage the donated items and manage the event.
Door Prizes Team
We give out many door prizes during our convention general sessions to registered attendees. We need people to collect items people bring to the convention as door prizes, announce the winners, and bring the prizes to the winners in the convention meeting space.
Registration Table at Convention Team
We need people to help hand out registration packets, goody bags, and agendas during the convention at the registration table, as well as collect information from people registering on site. Good notetaking skills and knowledge of braille is requested.
Ambassadors Team
We need people to help pack the give-away goody bags that are handed out with registration, serve as marshals to help people find meeting rooms, be runners during meetings, operate a lost-and-found, and assist with clean-up after the convention. Please note that if you want to help in this area you will need to arrive at the convention early for a short training, and it would be great if you could remain until the very end of the convention to help clean and pack things up.
Sound System and Technology Team
We need people to help run the sound system, manage the online streaming of the convention, set up microphones, and perform other technology-based tasks. If you want to help in this area you will need to attend a training in October to become familiar with the audio equipment we use during the convention. Expertise with Zoom Cloud Meetings and previous experience with audio technology is necessary for some of the tasks.
