The Well at St. Peter's House - 2022
Thank you for considering The Well as a place of support and safety for the person you are working with. We will offer what we can.

‘The Well’ was established as a holistic response to the needs on and around campus caused - and exacerbated – by Covid-19. As lock-down has ceased it's clear these needs aren't easing, and so The Well has become a long-term project.

The Well can be roughly divided into two halves: an emergency food provision that ties together ingredients with recipes and the confidence/skills to cook these, and an offer to people's deeper, human needs.

We provide groceries (dry goods and fresh ingredients) or cooked meals to those in food crisis.
We provide cooking confidence and skills through recipe cards and the offer to come and learn cooking skills from the team at Milk & Honey.
We provide access to online step-by-step cookery classes for the recipes we send out.

We address social isolation and loneliness through volunteering (including accessible volunteering), community events, interactive courses and the opportunity to be part of ‘something bigger’.
We offer an accessible, diverse and entirely free programme of ‘Wholeness’ activities, including mindfulness, yoga, sound-healing, bee-keeping, gardening, Pilates in Mandarin....
We offer pastoral and faith support from the team at SPH, including multi-faith provision from our team of honorary One Love chaplains.
We provide safe spaces for conversations about the challenges of Covid-19 and lock-down, living through uncertain times, and much more.

We send a weekly email Well-News keeping all of our Well community up-to-date with particular offers of support for them, events that may interest them, or anything going on in Milk & Honey cafe.

Once we have received your application, we will contact the person you are working with to arrange with them when they can collect their first 'Well Pack' (This is usually the following Friday afternoon, except in crisis situations). When a person is isolating delivery can be arranged. (We can usually only deliver within the Hume - M15 - area and along the Oxford Road corridor plus within half a mile on either side. This is a rough geographic area designed to make the delivery area viable for our small team, so do get in touch if you'd like to discuss this further.)

There are two versions of this Well Pack, both available at no cost to the person you are referring:

Well Pack A:  our ‘standard offering’ – a grocery pack with dry/fresh food provisions for 10 meals in total. This comprises ingredients and recipes for 7 healthy ‘main’ meals plus extra food for 3 smaller meals and some  snacks/breakfast bars etc.

Well Pack B: Our tailored offering allows us to be responsive to individual needs and requirements. This often means that we provide the meals pre-cooked and chilled as the recipient is not able to cook due to their personal circumstance.

To ensure that our resources are shaped appropriately for those with the highest needs we have included some questions about factors which create additional vulnerability. This information helps us as we manage individual cases. Often in these cases it will be easiest to simply pick up the phone and have a chat to ensure we can support the person in the most tailored way to meet their needs.

This information collect in this form will be stored in line with our GDPR policy and will only be used for the purposes for which is has been collected.

The form will only be seen by the team at St. Peter's House, and not used for any other purposes.

To contact the team to discuss a referral, please phone 0161 275 2894 or contact us through the website. We will try and respond to all referrals to The Well within 24 hours.
