Minute Motifs: Application Instruction

EDIT: We are now accepting submissions for our waitlist

We currently have 24 slots for the event, and have reached 24 applications.

However, not every applicant will actually show up, so the waitlist will ensure you get to speak if/when applicants cancel.

Event Info: July 9, 2024 - 6-9pm | Location: OLMSTE(A)D (Capitol Hill)

Introduction: We're thrilled that you're interested in this event.  Our hope is to bring together the many unique perspectives and journeys in Seattle’s climate community.   The idea of climate journey is part of many communities, and as we each take action, I believe that sharing the patterns, themes, and symbols that inspire us can create a deeper understanding and connection.

Event Format:
Speakers will have one minute to introduce and explain their motif to the audience.  Olmstead has graciously agreed to host us, and we will be set-up in their back atrium with a small stage and seating for ~65 people.   Upon arrival, we will give every speaker a letter for their group and number, and we will have speakers line up near the stage in groups of five.   After a speaker finishes their presentation, we will display an outro slide as we transition speakers for audience members who want to follow-up afterwards.

Timeline:
Deadline: Please finish all submissions by June 24th 10pm PST.
Informing Finalists:  We hope to include everyone who submits in the presentation and will inform finalists by June 30th.

Motif Description:
For a clearer understanding of your presentation, please share 2-4 sentences explaining your chosen motif and why you've decided to share this with our community? This information will help us better prepare for and support your talk. This will not be shared audience.
Things to Keep in Mind:

Don’t Worry about Time:  This is not a competition; we will inform speakers after 60 seconds and politely ask them to give the microphone to the next speaker after 90 seconds to ensure everyone gets a chance to share.

Focus on Connection:  Our goal is to create connections between audience members and other presenters, not to challenge speakers to explain complex topics in 60 seconds.
