The Aba Leatherworks Program is a fully sponsored vocational skills training supported by PIND Foundation under the NDYEP Scale Up Program.
The program aims to empower 100 unemployed youths in Abia State with leatherwork skills that will translate into revenue generation, job creation, sustainable entrepreneurship and socio-economic growth. It is designed to give participants in-depth technical knowledge in; Shoemaking as well as soft skills like Leadership & Communication, Entrepreneurship, Conflict management and Career skills.
Duration - 6 months
Location - Aba, Abia State.
Selection Criteria

Age: 16 - 30 years
●
Gender: Male & Female (Women are encouraged to apply)
●
Primary focus on young school leavers including the vulnerable and disadvantaged (rural, women and people living with disabilities).
●
Unemployed/underemployed youth interested in pursuing careers in the leatherworks industry.
●
Indigene or residents of Abia State.
Only Shortlisted participants who meet the above criteria will be invited for the interview stage.
Note: Although this is a sponsored program, participants are expected to bear the cost of their transportation etc. to and from the training center. There will be no starter-packs at the end of the program, rather successful participants will be linked to available employment opportunities or supported to start their small enterprises.
