Black Jack Battlefield Birding and Prairie Seeding
***This event has been rescheduled due to the recent snow storm. The new date for the event is Sunday, February 13, 2022. Hope to see you then!***

Join GHF, Native Lands LLC, Jayhawk Audubon Society, and Black Jack Battlefield and Nature Park at Black Jack Battlefield for a great morning outdoors!

The bird walk will be led by Roger Boyd, Emeritus Professor of Biology, Baker University and Field trip chair for Jayhawk Audubon Society. We will meet in the parking lot at the park and walk several of the trails expecting to return to the parking lot by 10:00 am.  After the walk, we invite you all into the prairie to help us disperse native prairie seed that was collected and cleaned by volunteers.

Masks will be required, especially as we gather as a group at the beginning of the event.

We will notify you via the email you sign up with if we need to reschedule the event due to weather.

Please come prepared for working and exploring the outdoors, including wearing warm layers and sturdy, closed-toed shoes. If you plan to attend the seeding, feel free to bring along your own work gloves. We will have extra gloves and rakes on hand to lend if you need it! Black Jack Battlefield is located at 163 E 2000 Rd, Wellsville, KS 66092 (https://goo.gl/maps/8UseyDCLp5d634XJ8).

Please email Kaitlyn at grasslandheritage@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Hope to see you out on the prairie!
