Chicago Neighborhoods Fellowship: This Fellowship is designed to facilitate research opportunities for Graduate and Undergraduate students in collaboration with a faculty mentor and justice agencies, non-profit organizations, or community-based programs that seek to reduce crime and improve services in marginalized neighborhoods of Chicago. Preference will be given to students from communities with high rates of violence and incarceration.
Court Observer: This position
involves travelling to nearby circuit courts (Cook, Lake, DuPage, Will, etc.),
observing court hearings and taking notes on the proceedings. Applicants should
have at least one day of the week (Mon-Sat) that they would be available to
observe in court. Applicants must have access to a vehicle and a driver's
license. All transportation costs will be paid.
Center for Criminal Justice Fellowship:
Research fellows work closely with Center researchers and Center staff to conduct research on targeted projects designed to bring about systemic improvements in the criminal justice system in both Illinois and other states.
