Thank you for your interest in nominating students to Year 5 of the New Visions Student Advisory Network. This is a great leadership opportunity for students to positively impact and inform the work of New Visions on a school and systemic level. Students will work collaboratively with their peers and NV staff members to develop resources and tools that can be used to enhance school communities.  Example projects could include: working with the NV community engagement team to create a student designed career day for schools,  working with the NV partnership team to develop and conduct youth development in schools training for teachers or working with the curriculum team to write curriculum in specific content areas.

NOMINATIONS:
Please nominate at least  2 students for this opportunity who are in the 11th grade and/or 10th grade. We are looking for students with the following characteristics:
Peer influencers
Leaders
Social justice focused
Leads by example
Untapped potential
Provides different perspectives
Ambitious
Responsible

Consider students who might not have the highest GPAs, but are heavily involved in the communities they are part of. You have up to 3 nominations- please nominate a diverse set of students. We've provided example student profiles to guide your thinking.

Example Student Profiles:
-A student who isn’t very involved in extracurriculars currently, but they have demonstrated an interest or passion for issues such as advocacy, community organizing, and social justice. This is a values-driven student who maybe needs an extra nudge to get involved beyond ideas in their head.

-A student who is responsible, a peer-leader and strong presence but maybe doesn’t succeed in all classes.

-A student that is representative of your average student body.

-If you have a large population of a student subgroup, consider sending a student from that sub-group. For example, race/ethnicity,

-A student who is outspoken and does not follow the crowd

-A student who is thriving and/or enjoys the virtual learning environment

This year, NV SAN will be virtual with the group meeting weekly starting in January 2022- June 2022 (excluding mid-winter and spring breaks).
