In this event, different speakers from various backgrounds will share their perspectives on climate justice and how this was (or was not) represented at COP26. After their talk, there will be room for discussion with all the participants of the event. We hope the event will broaden your view on the role of justice in working towards solutions for a greener and more equitable future.
The speakers:
- Isadora Cardoso - Queer feminist, climate activist and expert on intersectional climate justice. Currently researching the debate and pathways on just energy transitions in Brazil and Germany
- Veerle Bertje Engel- Youth Activist and co-founder of the Climate Solidarity Coalition, focused on demanding a central place for indigenous and other grassroots perspectives in the climate debate
- Raki Ap - West Papua campaigner, speaking up for indigenous rights and committed to political, human rights and climate activism
- Yuv Sungkur - Youth activist, delegate for Mauritius and passionate about Small Islands Developing States
- Stuart Tannock - Radical and social justice researcher and educator with a focus on educational equality and alternative forms of environmental education
- Ana Clara Cassanti - Lecturer in Sustainability at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, works on climate change adaptation at the international organization Global Center on Adaptation and will talk about food sovereignty and the right to food in relation to climate change

Tijdens dit evenement zullen verschillende sprekers met verschillende achtergronden hun perspectieven op klimaatrechtvaardigheid delen en hoe dit (al dan niet) vertegenwoordigd was op COP26. Na hun lezing is er ruimte voor discussie met alle deelnemers van het evenement. We hopen dat het evenement je kijk verbreed op de rol van rechtvaardigheid bij het werken aan oplossingen voor een groenere en gelijkwaardige toekomst.
De sprekers:
- Isadora Cardoso - Queer feministe, klimaatactivist en expert op het gebied van intersectionele klimaatrechtvaardigheid. Onderzoekt momenteel het debat en de trajecten over rechtvaardige energietransities in Brazilië en Duitsland
- Veerle Bertje Engel - Jeugdactivist en medeoprichter van de Climate Solidarity Coalition, gericht op het eisen van een centrale plaats voor inheemse en andere grassroots-perspectieven in het klimaatdebat
- Raki Ap - Campagnevoerder voor West-Papoea, die opkomt voor inheemse rechten en zich inzet voor politiek, mensenrechten en klimaatactivisme
- Yuv Sungkur - Jeugdactivist, afgevaardigde voor Mauritius en gepassioneerd door kleine eilanden in ontwikkelingslanden
- Stuart Tannock - Onderzoeker en docent op het gebied van radicale en sociale rechtvaardigheid met een focus op onderwijsgelijkheid en alternatieve vormen van milieueducatie
- Ana Clara Cassanti - Docent Duurzaamheid aan de Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, werkt aan klimaatadaptatie bij de internationale organisatie Global Centre on Adaptation en zal spreken over voedselsoevereiniteit en het recht op voedsel in relatie tot klimaatverandering
