2020 HOLIDAY PARADE APPLICATION
On Saturday, November 21, 2020 the City of Harrisburg will proudly present the annual Holiday Parade on November 21. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, the parade will be modified to a reverse parade and held on City Island.

WHAT IS A REVERSE PARADE?
A reverse parade is a creative way to hold a socially distanced holiday celebration. In a reverse parade, the parade entrants are stationary. Rather than large groups of spectators gathering along City
streets, they will drive by the parade entrants and remain safely in their vehicles. Parade entrant groups will be
assigned a space a minimum of 25 feet from another group and a safe distance from any travelling vehicles.
No candy or promotional items may be distributed by the participants. No awards ceremony will be held.

APPLICATIONS ARE DUE FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9.
Applications must be submitted by October 9 for best consideration on acceptance. Acceptance will be awarded on a rolling basis as space permits, so we encourage you to apply early for best consideration as space is limited. The parade will be canceled if we do not receive at least 25 entries.

PARADE SCHEDULE: NOVEMBER 21
8am - Set-up begins
9:30am - All parade entrants must be set-up and ready
10am - 12:30 - Reverse parade (last car at 12pm)

PARADE THEME:
The theme for this year’s parade is “Hometown Holiday.” All organizations are given the opportunity to enter the
“Best in Theme” contest within this application. The entries will be judged based on their presentation of the parade theme, originality, construction and overall appearance. The winning entry will be announced on social media and will receive a $100 Amazon gift card. NO SANTA’S WILL BE PERMITTED with parade entries as we will have one participating already.

INCLEMENT WEATHER & RAIN DATE:
If there is inclement weather, the parade will be rescheduled for Saturday, December 5 following the
same timeline above. Participants will be notified by email by 5pm Wednesday, November 18 if the
parade is being rescheduled.

GOODIE BAGS
Parade participants are NOT allowed to disburse candy or any other items along the parade route. Instead, event staff will disburse goodie bags to each car with items collected from each group. Groups must drop off their giveaway items to the City Government Center no later than November 13 so we have adequate time for assembly. You will need to provide 150 items.

WAIVER
Your organization, if selected, agrees to participate in the 2020 Holiday Parade, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on
Saturday, November 21, 2020.

In consideration for being accepted as a participant, we irrevocably grant the City of Harrisburg the exclusive
right to use in any media our name, likeness, photos or reproduction of our performance for any purpose
including promotion, advertising or otherwise. With these rights, we hereby release the City of Harrisburg and
its officials, employees, sponsors, and its agents from any claim, liabilities and/or damages that may now or in the
future arise by reason of such use. Further, we acknowledge that we are aware of the risks associated with
participation in this Parade and, therefore, on our behalf and that of our heirs, do hereby release the City of
Harrisburg and its officials, employees, sponsors, and its agents for any and all claims, liabilities and/or damages
on account of any personal injury or property damage which may occur from any cause before, during or after
the Parade.

Social distancing means you stay 6-ft away from others to help eliminate the spread of germs. I will ensure that our
members practice social distancing at all times during the construction of our entry and during the event.
Wearing a mask and/or face shield is required when social distancing can not be maintained. I will ensure that our
members wear a mask and/or face shield during the construction of our entry when social distancing can not be
maintained. Our members also agree to wear a mask and/or face shield during the event.

By signing and submitting this Application Form and Wavier, you are acknowledging that you have read and fully
understand all rules and regulations of the City of Harrisburg Holiday Parade.
