Application to join Alwoodley Scout Group
******************************************************************************************************************
Due to unprecedented demand for scouting we have a large joining list and regrettably, we cannot provide a place for every child looking for a place.
******************************************************************************************************************
Thank you for your interest in joining Alwoodley Scout Group, known as 16th North Leeds.  Meetings are held at the scout hut behind the Alwoodley Community Association building on The Avenue, Alwoodley, Leeds, LS17 7NZ.   We are an open group; not sponsored by a church. Although we are located behind the Alwoodley Community Association, we are independent.  We can be found here. https://goo.gl/maps/6s2JuaGUXu42

Please visit our web site at https://www.16thnorthleeds.org.uk and our Facebook page. Search for 16th North Leeds.

Beavers:-

Beavers are our youngest members, and generally meet for an hour per week between 5:30 pm and 6:30 pm on Fridays.

They enjoy all that Scouting has to offer; being introduced to outdoor activities, having the opportunity to be creative, explore their local community and experience the excitement of a Beaver Scout Sleepover with their friends.

The Beaver Colony is the first and youngest section of the Scout Group. Beaver Scouts are young people aged between 6 and 8 years old.

Cubs:-

Cubs meet for an hour and a half per week between 6:45 pm and 8:15 pm on Wednesdays. At Alwoodley, although not impossible, it is unlikely that a place can be granted to a child who is not coming up through Beavers.

For Cubs, excitement and adventure are key. Their programme offers a huge variety of activities surrounding areas of fitness, global and beliefs; whilst allowing them to be creative and get involved in their local communities. Cubs are introduced to exciting outdoor skills and take part in adventurous activities, as well as camps and residential experiences.

The Cub Pack is the second section of the Scout Group following on from Beavers. Cub Scouts are young people aged between 8 and 10 ½.

All of our Cubs join through moving up from Beavers.  It is not normally possible to join Alwoodley Cubs directly without moving on from Alwoodley Beavers.

Scouts:-

Scouts meet for two hours per week between 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm on Fridays.

Scouts aims to build and develop young people’s confidence, sense of adventure and outdoor skills, as well as encouraging them to explore their beliefs and attitudes and be creative.  It offers them the independence to put these skills into practice at camps and even on international trips.  Alwoodley Scouts normally have an international camp every third year to give every Scout the opportunity to take part at some point during their 3½ years in the troop.

Scouts are encouraged to work together and take the lead on all sorts of projects, from community based work to planning games and activities for their meetings.

The Scout Troop is the third section in the Scout Group, above Beavers and Cubs. The Scout Section is for young people aged between 10½ and 14 years.

An Explorer Unit for young people aged 14 to 18 years meets on Thursday evenings between 8 pm and 10 pm.
