In our business, our product is the class environment, and our service is our coaching and programming. All three are equally important – without one, the other three fail. You might have been told that “programming doesn’t matter.” Well, it doesn’t matter until you are doing a horrible program, then it matters a lot. The class environment needs to be one that fosters learning and community and your coaching is the glue that binds it all together.
We are a team of high achievers. Professionalism is first on the list and with good reason. But, let’s not confuse professionalism with authoritarianism. Tucking in your shirt is not going to make you more professional. Yelling is not going to make you a leader. Knowing what you are talking about and delivering that message in a way that is understood and fosters learning is what we are talking about here. There is a lot we can cover in this section, but this is going to focus on the education side of things because we first want to make sure the correct information is being coached.
What you should already have
All coaches will hold a minimum of a strength and conditioning (S&C) or personal training universally recognized certification. University degrees will always be given priority.
You should also understand what “strength and conditioning” means and how our unique method of combined traditional S&C, weightlifting, and CrossFit, which has been what we were since our birth in 2010, works to shape the lives of our members. Asphodel is more than any of these individual elements and should always be positioned as such. Before you fill out this application, you should really understand what our website (https://asphodel.fit/) says inside and out (we will ask you these questions in the interview).
