Program Overview:
The Academy of Community Empowerment is a 6-week immersive program centered around social justice, youth-led community advocacy, and empowerment. As ACE Interns, youth will participate in project-based learning workshops and collaborate on weekly projects to build a foundational knowledge centered around youth leadership, community empowerment, and cultivating healthy relationships.
Workshop and project topics include, but are not limited to: Restorative and transformative justice, holistic healing, importance of nature engagement, digital literacy, design, self expression, written literacy, social media marketing, community engagement, San Francisco History, effective communication, peer relationships, and youth leadership.
Additionally, students will participate in weekly excursions designed to challenge and push them out of their comfort zones, both mentally and physically. Our weekly excursions include, but are not limited to: Ocean Beach Bonfire, City Exploration, Urban Hikes, and more.
Through their workshops, projects, and excursions, ACE Interns will culminate their skills and learnings in an end of the summer Block Party for the community, including, but not limited to youth participants at KIPP Bayview Elementary School, KIPP Bayview Middle School, MLK Middle School, and PACE Summer Programs.
