Help Alchemie Make Accessible Learning Tools
Kasi has been developed by Alchemie, a Michigan-based company, with Department of Education funding. Kasi combines Audio-based Augmented Reality, Computer Vision, and physical manipulatives to help blind students learn science, and communicate more effectively with their sighted peers and teachers.

To learn more about the Kasi, you can watch this YouTube video https://youtu.be/83O_dCbL2PM.

Here is how you can help us in our research as we create this new method for learning for both sighted and Blind/Visually Impaired (BVI) students.

Where: All research will take place at your school by the Alchemie research team over a two-day period.

Who: We are looking for BVI high school students, both braille users and non-braille users, and they do NOT have to be in a chemistry class. If you will have a student this fall who would fit this study and potentially interested in participating please fill out this form.

When: We will be setting up appointments between October 11 and Thanksgiving at your school. Each study session requires about an hour to complete for the student.

If you are a TVI and/or have a BVI chemistry student currently in your school, we would LOVE to hear from you!

The study has been approved by a Human Subjects Research ethical review board, and is anticipated to include surveys for TVIs and chemistry instructors as well as surveys and use of the prototype by the students.

For participating, schools will get to keep the Kasi set used in the study.
