Project TEAL School District Lead Application
Project TEAL (https://www.projectteal.org/) is a student-led initiative committed to providing young people with the knowledge and tools to become engaged citizens in the democratic process. Through tolerance, engagement, action, and learning, we believe that civic engagement is the key to dismantling the polarization that has come to dominate our geopolitical climate today.

As a School District Lead, you would be expected to advocate for our curriculum to be fully implemented in your school district's available curriculum. Although we will most definitely be here to help you throughout the process, it is ultimately up to you to reach out to the superintendent in your district, and set up meetings to effectively persuade him/her/them of the importance of civic engagement/political literacy and why our curriculum should be implemented in all the schools within your district. Additionally, you would also be expected to contact various libraries/community centers within your community to discuss the possibility of actually hosting civic engagement workshops (using our curriculum) in their spaces. Moreover, we expect all School District Leads to be avid participants in all the campaigns and events that Project TEAL organizes.

If you consistently exemplify your ability to fulfill the above responsibilities with professionalism, dedication, and enthusiasm, you may hold this position until you graduate from high school. Once an applicant is selected for a role, they will be expected to begin immediately.

You must be in grades 9-12 to be selected as a School District Lead for Project TEAL. You must also reside in the state that you're applying to be the School District Lead for. If you possess a passion for civic engagement and youth mobilization, strong leadership ability, and a willingness to put in the time and effort when necessary, this is the role for you.

A School District Lead should be able to commit at least 1 to 3 hours per week to this position. We strongly urge you to consider the time, effort, and passion you would be able to dedicate to the role before applying. After submitting this application, you will hear back within a few weeks with a decision concerning your placement on our team.

Applications are reviewed on a staggered schedule. For this round, applications are due by August 31 at 11:59 EST. If you have any questions, please email contact@projectteal.org
