BQFF 2024: Call for Entries
The Bangalore Queer Film Festival 2024 is open for submissions for 2024!
Festival Dates: July 2024
Deadline for entries: 1st June, 2024
Contact us at: blrqueerfilmfest@gmail.com

BQFF is back with its 14th edition! So, send us your films! Send us that filmed love letter to a partner across the ocean, send us stories about your chosen families, the ways gender is being messed with, about long walks with lovers, about dazzling discoveries after long nights of partying with friends and everything else about the world from a queer eye. We're looking for feature films, shorts, documentaries, animation and the experimental. Send us stories of queer love, horror, comedy and tragedy. We want to be afraid, we want to be seduced and we want to be thrilled. We want to see everything!

The Bangalore Queer Film Festival continues to be a space to push the definitions of queerness, and with your experimental, long and short films, documentaries, features and shorts you can help us put together an exciting film festival.

Previously on BQFF

At the 13th edition of the Bangalore Queer Film Festival, the roster of films had the festival's first films from Tibet and Myanmar. BQFF was the Asian and World premiere of films from Brazil, Belgium-Singapore and Scotland. There was laughter, tears, and revelations galore. And to mark our 13th edition, the film programme also curated a section of queer horror films from B-grade Bollywood brilliance to queer quirkiness.

BQFF returned in 2022 after a year's break in which we all sorely missed the mad love and adrenalin rush of the festival, the long queues, the squeezing together on mattresses, the pain in the feet, the buzz around certain films and the chaotic calm of the tech booth. For the films in previous years visit our website.

This is the fourteenth year of the festival, and in 2019 was the 10th anniversary of the festival and it was five days of film screenings, performances, art exhibitions and panel discussions held at the Alliance Française de Bengaluru and Goethe Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan. The venue for this year's festival is not decided yet and we will share that information as soon as we know on our website and with selected filmmakers directly. If you have concerns about a venue where your film will be screened, please email us.

Please send us your entries and pass this call on to friends, lovers, exes, situationships, family and colleagues who might want to send in theirs. The deadline for submission is 1st June, 2024, and the final schedule of films will be released in the beginning of July, 2024.

The festival loves independent films that transform ideas of queerness, so send the call out! We specially encourage independent films and amateur work that want to try new things with cinema and queerness.

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION:

Films
We accept films made by directors on themes related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and other queer populations. Films that challenge traditional gender and sex / sexuality notions are welcome.

Genres
Please submit films of any form: Features, Shorts, Documentaries, Animation or Experimental.

Preview copies
Submit preview copies of full films online (via the form you can submit vimeo or youtube links, links from google drive, Mega, Dropbox or similar file transfers). Copies of all films will be kept with the BQFF Archives.

Format of Final Submission
Final submissions are expected in the form of high resolution files or high quality DVDs (or Bluray) only. Contact the organisers if you require more information or want to use other formats.

Subtitles
Since accents vary even among English language films, all films should preferably have subtitles in English.

Submission/mailing costs
Mailing costs for the submissions have to be borne by the director/producer/distributor. The BQFF cannot, at this juncture, support the costs of receiving copies for preview. Please contact the organisers if you are unable to bear these costs so as to arrange for alternative ways to send your films to us.

Screening Costs
As always the BQFF is a FREE event and no charges are levied on submissions. Additionally, only films that do not charge screening fees will be accepted.

You can submit your film via the form below.
