2022 SLCL Stories of the American Experience Author Release
In consideration for the opportunity to submit a work to be included in the St. Louis County Library Story Compilation (the “Compilation”), Author hereby irrevocably grants the St. Louis County Library District (“Library”) a royalty-free, nonexclusive, and irrevocable license, worldwide and in perpetuity, to use the Work any time through any medium of Library’s choosing.

1. Author hereby gives Library the right and permission to use, re-use, copy, alter, publish, re-publish, and distribute the Work in whole or in part, severally or in conjunction with other artistic works, in any and all media, including Library’s website, in promotional materials, and in any other medium or format for any purpose related to the Compilation. Additionally, Author grants Library the right to use Author’s name in association with the Work in published form and in promotional materials.

2. Author hereby authorizes Library to assign or transfer the rights described above, in whole or in part, to any third party (“Sublicensee(s)”) for use in any derivative or creative works prepared by or with Library for the benefit of such Sublicensee(s). Author agrees that the rights granted by Author expressly include the right of such Sublicensee(s) to allow the sale and distribution of the Work, in whole or in part, exclusively to other public libraries. AUTHOR EXPRESSLY AGREES AND ACKNOWLEDGES THAT IT IS NOT ENTITLED TO ANY ROYALTIES FROM LIBRARY OR ANY SUBLICENSEES UPON THE SALE AND DISTRIBUTION OF THE WORK AS CONTEMPLATED UNDER THIS RELEASE.

3. Author represents and warrants that (i) the Work is Author’s original work and has not been previously published; (ii) the Work does not infringe on or violate any intellectual property rights of another party; (iii) Author is the sole author and owner of the Work; and (iv) Author has full power and legal right to execute and perform this Release. Author is solely responsible and will indemnify Library and Sublicensee(s) for any third party claims related to the Work as submitted for publication.

4. Except for the rights expressly granted or waived to Library hereunder, Author reserves to itself all intellectual and proprietary rights in the Work.

5. Author agrees that Library is not responsible for protecting the work from misuse, copyright infringement, or unauthorized copying, distribution or deletion of Author’s content by others. Accordingly, Author releases and waives and agrees to hold Library and Sublicensee(s) harmless from any claims, damages, or liabilities resulting from their use of the Work and agrees not to bring any such claims against the released parties at any time in the future.

By signing this Release, Author certifies that he/she has read, understands, and agrees to be bound by the terms and conditions set forth above.
