LCAP: A Focus on Accountability
Bonsall Unified School District is required to develop, adopt, and annually update a three-year Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). The LCAP is required to identify annual goals, specific actions geared toward implementing those goals and must measure progress for student subgroups across multiple performance indicators based on eight priorities set by the State. The eight priorities fall under three main categories: Conditions for Learning, Engagement, and Pupil Outcomes

Conditions for Learning: Priorities 1, 2, & 7
State Priority #1: Basic Services  -  Access to appropriate textbooks, learning materials, and credentialed teachers is important to ensuring students succeed in school. BUSD ensures all students have textbooks and access to all of the materials they need for their classes. Additionally, BUSD understands that having a safe, clean, and functional school facilities are important to student learning.

State Priority #2: Implementation of State Standards  -  BUSD ensures school programs and services enable all students, including English Learners, to access California's academic and performance standards, including Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts, Math, Next Generation Science Standards, and English Language Development Standards.

State Priority #7: Course Access  -  BUSD is taking steps to ensure all students are prepared to take classes that will prepare them for college and careers.  Students are assessed for grade-level proficiency using standards-aligned instructional strategies to support student learning.

Q25: My student and I are able to speak to the counselor about college requirements, class changes, college and career planning, and personal issues (Middle and High School students only).

Engagement: Priorities 3, 5, & 6
State Priority #3: Parent Involvement  -  BUSD values parents and takes the following actions to support parent involvement in schools: informing parents and guardians about individual student achievement; regular communication with parents.

State Priority #5: Student Engagement  -  Consistent school attendance and being involved in school activities are ways to keep students connected to the school.

State Priority #6: School Climate  -  BUSD wants all students to feel safe at school and to feel engaged in their school community. BUSD is taking steps to ensure high standards for student behavior.
