Long COVID in Academia
I am an academic and I have been living with long COVID since my April 2020. As I try to navigate my own challenges, I can't help but wonder how others are doing. Ableism in Higher Education is blatant, so I also understand that it's hard to publicly talk about this.

However, if there is something that COVID-19 LongHaulers need the most, it is visibility.

That's why I created 'Long COVID in Academia' @longcovacademia. I am hoping to use this Twitter profile to raise awareness about the challenges graduate students, postdocs and faculty are facing while recovering from COVID-19 or living with long COVID. I also would like to open this channel for those who have unexpectedly found themselves as care takers of someone living with long COVID.

I list some prompts below but feel free to share whatever you would like. You can write as much as you want and submit as many entries as you wish.

1) Mental health and wellbeing. How have you been? What has worked for you and what has not? How has long COVID affected your mental health? How do you feel about your education and career prospects?

2) Community support. What would you like to tell your advisor about living with long COVID? Do you feel supported by your academic community (peers, advisor, mentors, faculty, staff)? Do you feel like you have the support you need to succeed given the new circumstances? Have you been able to get accommodations?

3) Symptom management and academic performance. Have you been able to work? If you have been working, what has been making that possible? How does brain fog affect your ability to be academically productive (e.g. read papers, write, data analyses, field or lab work, mentor, teach, give talks, etc)? Do you feel comfortable disclosing to your advisor symptoms like brain fog and other cognitive impairment linked to long COVID? How does it feel to take an exam while dealing with long COVID?
