Student Government Association Student Correspondent Application
Thank you for expressing interest in applying to be a student correspondent on Mercer SGA! Student Correspondents are not elected by the student body, but rather interviewed and selected by the committee chair of the respective committee to which the student applied. Student Correspondents on each committee shall have the following expressed purposes: "to aid and assist with any events, initiatives, or programs implemented by their assigned committee; to attend and give input during committee meetings; to remain in contact with their committee chairperson; to fulfill all duties assigned to them by their committee chairperson; and to encourage student involvement in all facets of university life."

 PLEASE NOTE: If you would like to apply for more than one committee, you will need to resubmit this application for each committee you have an interest in serving on.

Committee Descriptions
Campus Safety and Improvements
The Campus Safety and Improvements Committee shall be charged with the investigation of all issues of student concern in relation to safety, campus security, campus improvements, campus beautification, Mercer technological issues along with all services for which the university obtains contracts with outside firms. These include, but are not limited to, food and cafeteria services, cable services, vending services, bookstore services, and postal services. The Campus Safety and Improvements Committee shall be charged with the investigation of a suitable gift to be bestowed to the university on behalf of the graduating class.
Heritage Life
The Heritage Life Committee shall be charged with promoting and developing the heritage and traditions of Mercer University to and for the student body and the Mercer community at large. The Heritage Life Committee shall be charged with organizing the annual celebration of Pilgrimage to Penfield, the founding site of Mercer University, in order to foster appreciation of the history of the university. The Heritage Life Committee shall be charged with organizing the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, in order to promote university unity during the holidays. The Heritage Life Committee shall be charged with organizing the annual celebration of Founders’ Day, in order to commemorate the work and vision of the university's founders and to celebrate the continuation of its original mission and purpose.
Public Relations & Elections
The Public Relations and Elections Committee shall be charged with the scheduling and officiating of all campus elections. The Public Relations and Elections Committee shall be responsible for the advertisement and promotion of the Student Government Association and all related events and with the outreach of the senate body to all student groups, departmental organizations, and individuals by organizing events and outreaches to connect the senate body and the student body with the purpose of encouraging an active culture of awareness and involvement on campus. The subcommittee known as External Relations falls under this committee.
Student Affairs
The Student Affairs Committee shall be charged with the investigation of all issues that affect the quality of student life and shall act as liaison to the Dean of Students, the Director of Campus Life, and all recognized campus organizations. The Student Affairs Committee shall be charged with the investigation of all university academic policies affecting the student body. The Student Affairs Committee shall serve as a liaison between the student body and the offices of deans and the undergraduate colleges, the Executive Vice-President, and the Provost of the university. The Student Affairs Committee shall investigate all substantive student complaints against faculty members. The subcommittee known as Merclusion is dedicated to seeing a more diverse and inclusive campus at Mercer along with having an orientation toward equity, social justice, and community building.
