Madison County Solid Waste is working to reduce illegal dumping of extra waste from out-of-county users and of hazardous wastes. This will help keep our services affordable for the residents of Madison County. Our next step in this effort will be to gate the Norris Waste Collection Site, limiting access to specific open hours. This was recently implemented in Cardwell, and the amount of excess waste has already been significantly decreased. There has been an added bonus of less litter blowing around too! Action on this issue is on the agenda for the Spring public meeting (date TBD) and there will be opportunity for public comment then.

The proposed new hours for Norris will be Tuesday and Thursday 8-4 and Saturday 8:30-3:30. These proposed times are based on our staff's current availability to open and close the gates, but may possibly be adjusted.
