Wednesday the 21st of December, 18.00-19.00 hrs. we will celebrate diversity by organizing the first ever UvA Chanukkah celebration. Channukah is the Jewish eight-day, wintertime “festival of lights” celebrating light over darkness and the victory of freedom over oppression. During the evening the chanukkiah candles will be lit. We will enjoy some traditional Jewish chanukkah finger foods (kosher) and drinks. The event will be opened by Central Diversity Officer dr. Machiel Keestra followed by an introduction about Chanukka by prof. dr. Bart Wallet (Jewish Studies). The event takes place in the canteen of the P.C. Hoofthuis, Spuistraat 134.
