At Sobriety Without Stigma we offer a non-judgemental, safer environment for sex workers to gather for support as they journey toward or continue their sobriety.
Sobriety Without Stigma is not specific to a substance or process of choice. No matter the chemical or behavioral dependency, quitting can be hard both mentally and physically.
We offer a safe, supportive environment that lends itself to a comfortable conversation to discuss our efforts and our successes, and sometimes even our failures as we traverse a healthier lifestyle.
Very casual, Sobriety Without Stigma is not specifically structured. We do not have a book. We won’t have readings. We will tell our stories anecdotally, share a few laughs and hugs, and give each other strength.
We will meet on Whyte avenue (in Edmonton, Alberta) in a private space and will also have a virtual component for those who prefer to join us online. The meetings will be run by sex workers for sex workers.
We will be resuming this service, once every 2 weeks, in September of 2022. We will email you once this support starts again and then contact you 24-48 hours before the event starts to send you the link to use if you are joining us virtually, or the physical address if you are joining us in person.
This support group has been developed by ANSWERS (a sex worker-led non-profit) and funded by Women and Gender Equality Canada. For more information on ANSWERS please visit:
