We are currently working with staff and collaborating with other Butte County School Districts to develop our reopening plan for next school year. We are also taking into consideration the results from the first survey sent home a few weeks ago. Things at the state level are continuously changing, so we are considering 3 options when it comes to opening next year. Since we do not know what the future holds we are preparing for all 3 scenarios, although we prefer Option # 1 of returning as close to normal as possible. We would like to have a plan finalized by mid July.
Option #1 Traditional Learning (5 Days)
- Daily Attendance
- Provide social distancing for students in the classroom by spacing desks or table seating as much as possible
or providing a barrier between students.
- Protective face coverings will be worn as mandated by state and local agencies.
- Daily classroom attendance on school sites as during a traditional school year.
- standards-based, core curriculum.
Option # 2 (Hybrid of Traditional and Distance Learning)
- Social distancing model with half of the number of students in a classroom at any given time. Will attempt to
keep families together for in person days.
- standards-based, core curriculum supplemented with online support
- Extended Learning opportunities (work assigned to be completed at home)
- Example: Group A attends Monday/Wednesday/ every other Friday
Group B attends Tuesday/Thursday/ every other Friday.
This would be a two-week cycle so all students attend five days out of ten.
Option # 3 (Distance Learning)
- If the entire school goes this route. Daily Interaction with a teacher using an online platform while the student
learns at home.
- Monitoring and grading of student progress. Communication regarding progress.
This may look different if it is only a few students in which it would be more of an independent study model
with a weekly meeting with a teacher.
