Welcome to the performing arts Rights Request process!
Platt House typically submits and manages student show licensing for theatrical plays, musicals, and excerpts with the major theatrical license holders: primarily MTI, Concord, and DPS. We have a dedicated organizational representative in each of these companies, and they group all of Penn's licensing requests under our centralized Platt House account.
Even if you haven't decided on a show for the semester yet, it's a good idea to submit two or three requests on the Rights Request Form. These requests are non-binding until you confirm a show and payment is processed. To further complicate things, popular musicals may not be available, and acquiring licenses and materials from the companies can take up to 6 weeks. Since you aren't allowed to market these show titles (including audition announcements, job postings, or social media posts) until your contract is paid, it's a good idea to get a head start on this process.
