In line with our upcoming Issue 20.1 on the theme of Fascism, St. Antony’s International Review (STAIR) is working on an event for Hilary Term: ‘The Causes of Fascism’. The main question will be: Is it the failures of the Left, or the failures of the Right, which have chiefly driven the rise of the Far Right?

Dr. Julia Ebner is a best-selling author and researcher famed for her expertise in (online) radicalisation, extremism, and terrorism. She has received multiple accolades including the Bruno Kreisky Award, the Dr Caspar Einem Prize, and the “Science Book of the Year 2020” Prize. Dr Ebner holds affiliations with LSE, Peking University, the Quiliam Foundation, and the Institute for Strategic Dialogue while currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Calleva Centre for Evolution and Human Sciences in Oxford (Magdalen College).
Eric Kaufmann is Professor of Politics at the University of Buckingham and the Director of the Centre for Heterodox Social Studies. His specialism lies in nationalism, the cultural left, and political demography, covering populism, immigration, and cultural conflict. Having authored, co-authored, and edited multiple books, publishing over 45 articles, and frequently contributing to the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Times of London, New Statesman, Financial Times, and other outlets, he is a constitutive voice of the current discourse.
