2) Economic violence, which is a form of discrimination or gender-based violence, can also occur in the workplace. Consider whether the following stories are examples of economic violence.

(choose one correct answer)

*
A) Yes
B) No
2.1.) Veronika and Kamil meet every day when they pick up their children from the children's group of the research centre. Today Veronika finds out that she and Kamil will be not only working together but even doing the same job. The manager has decided to add an additional part-time job to Veronica's part-time to make it full-time. The manager offered the position to Kamil without first asking Veronika if she would like to increase her workload. He assumed that she no longer has a capacity because of her children. Is this an example of economic violence?
2.2.) Lucie is a beginning scientist in a research institute. However, her PhD scholarship is very low to cover her essential expenses. Therefore, she would like to find at least a part-time job in addition to her academic career. The research she is involved in requires her to be available in the laboratory at irregular times, which limits her ability to combine her PhD studies with other work. She discusses the situation with her research supervisor, but she does not offer a solution. Is this an example of economic violence?
2.3.) Aneta, a member of the secretariat, has a fixed-term contract with the university tied to the duration of a specific project. However, the project ends in November and no grant has been available to fund her follow-up work. The university offers her the possibility of moving to another faculty where she would hold the same position from December, but only at 0.8 FTE. If Aneta refuses, she will lose her job. Is this an example of economic violence?
2.4.) Jan works full-time as an accountant. His life suddenly becomes complicated when his partner Adam falls seriously ill. Therefore, Jan decided to ask for a home office for two days a week. At first, everything was fine. But after his bosses found out that Jan is gay and he is taking care of his partner, they changed their minds. They will not allow him to take home office or other forms of flexible work, even though female employees caring for sick children use them regularly. Jan has no choice but to leave the institution. Is this an example of economic violence?
