Queen & Rook Youth D&D Membership Program
We are so excited to announce our Queen & Rook D&D Membership Program! Memberships are month-to-month and include a session each week, food, drinks, and a dice set (one per semester). It is now a drop-off program!

We are currently accepting registrations for May/June.

Our D&D program is designed for children ages 7 to 11, with no prior experience with Dungeons and Dragons or role-playing games necessary. Children will have the opportunity to create their own characters, meet new friends, solve puzzles, and battle monsters with the use of magic, cunning, and strength.

Youth D&D will run weekly until June 11, 2023 - we'll be off on Friday, May 26th and Sunday, May 28th for Memorial Day weekend, as well as for the summer, and we will resume in September. You can choose the time that works best for you. Please note - D&D sessions are not interchangeable, so whichever time you register for must continue to be the time your child attends until the end of an adventure. Each monthly membership contains one adventure, start to finish. It is best if your child attends every week, but if they cannot it's okay - just let us know. The ability to switch sessions must be approved by Kat and will depend on numbers across sessions and the experience level of the players in each group.

Our Youth D&D program will take place in The Keep, 613 S. 2nd St, Philadelphia, PA 19147. You may drop your child off to us at 11:50am/2:20pm/6:20pm, and pick up is at 2pm/4:30pm/8:30pm, depending on your session. D&D will begin at 12pm/2:30pm/6:30pm sharp. There is a 5 minute grace period for pick ups - if you are later than 5 minutes we will assess a $25 late fee.

Memberships are $100 per month. We are offering an introductory rate of $35 for your very first session (not applicable if you attended Youth D&D previously) - if you and your child enjoy the program, you will just pay the remaining balance for the month's membership. If this is a hardship for your family, please indicate below in the Enrollment Information section - we will reach out to you to discuss further.

The food we provide is vegetarian and will include: chickn tenders, fries, pretzel dippers, mozzarella sticks, popcorn, and some fresh fruits/vegetables. Drink options will include: lemonade, water, and milk. There is space for you to note your child's dietary restrictions in the Enrollment Information section of this form; we will use this to ensure your child is offered food following their restrictions. Please also note any food allergies.

A little about Dungeons & Dragons: D&D is a role-playing game (RPG) that was first published in 1974. It is now in its 5th Edition. Players create their own characters to role-play, and groups of characters are called a "party." The party engages in adventures in fantasy world settings, leveling up and gaining new skills and spells at the end of an adventure. In our campaigns, we will finish an adventure in a 4 week time period (possibly longer if it is a combined month, like May/June). Party members work together to travel, solve puzzles, battle monsters and foes, and, hopefully, leave their setting better than when they found it. Queen & Rook's Youth D&D Program focuses on negotiating as a member of a group, interpersonal communication skills, reading and math skills, fantasy world building, empathy, creativity, collaborative storytelling, and safe risk-taking. D&D campaigns are led by a Dungeon Master (DM), who plays all the non-player characters (NPCs) and tells a lot of the story. As DMs in our Youth Program, we choose stories that are child-appropriate and tales that can be solved with negotiation and kindness, in addition to strength.
