Parent Agreement & Permission to Participate

Permission to Attend: *

(YES): My child has permission to participate in REACH, Florence 1 Schools Gifted and Talented Program. I understand that the gifted and talented program (REACH) is an integral part of my child’s education. According to the SC Board of Education Gifted and Talented Regulation 43-220, my child must meet a mandated number of minutes in gifted education, and therefore, should not remain in his/her regular classroom on the designated REACH day. I will ensure that my child regularly attends the program in order to receive the services of gifted education. I understand that I will need to meet with or speak to a member of the Evaluation Placement Team should I wish to remove my child from the REACH program. My child will continue to attend REACH while the decision for removal is pending.

(NO): My child DOES NOT have permission to participate in REACH, Florence 1 Schools Gifted and Talented Program. I understand that my child is state-identified as gifted and talented, but I would like to decline gifted and talented services for my child. Should I wish for my child to receive services in the future, I will contact the REACH office or my child’s base school counselor.
