Archbishop Donald Bolen – Doctrine of Discovery & Steps Towards Decolonization (10:45 a.m., Saturday, April 27)
Donald Bolen is the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Regina. He was born on Treaty 4 Territory in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan. After graduate studies and ordination to priesthood, he taught in the Religious Studies department at Campion College at the University of Regina, and engaged in parish ministry. In 2001 he was appointed to work at the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, serving the Catholic Church’s international dialogues with Anglicans and Methodists. He was named the Bishop of the Diocese of Saskatoon in 2010 and the Archbishop of Regina in 2016. Within the Canadian Conference for Catholic Bishops, he has been active in ecumenical and justice work. On both diocesan and national levels, he has been actively involved in Indigenous relations and responding to the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. He was a part of the Bishops’ Working Group that worked on the Indigenous delegation to Rome in March 2022 and the Pope’s visit to Canada in July 2022.
Kathy Nolan – (De)Colonization Through the Lens of Child Sponsorship (7:15 p.m., Friday, April 26)

Kathy Nolan is Professor of Mathematics Education in the Faculty of Education at the University of Regina, where her teaching and research interests focus on theories of social justice and critical and culturally responsive pedagogies in mathematics teacher education. Her research interests have recently expanded into areas of global citizenship, justice education, and international development through two Humanities Research Institute (HRI) Fellowship awards (2020, 2023) which focus on gaining a deeper understanding and critique of child sponsorship.

Emily Bowman-Lukasik – D&P Schools: Putting Faith into Action in the Classroom (9 a.m., Saturday, April 27 via Zoom)
Emily has had a heart for social justice for as long as she can remember. When she first heard about Development and Peace through a Fall Action campaign at her church, she grabbed handfuls of signature cards and got all of the adults in her life to sign. It's been nearly 20 years since... The last three and a half years Emily spent working for D&P; first as Animator for Central Ontario, then South-West Ontario, and now as the new Youth Programs Officer for Under 18.
Mary Durran – Our Programs & Partners in Latin America (1:45 p.m., Saturday, April 27 via Zoom)

Mary Durran was raised and educated in the UK and had her first experience of international development work while volunteering with Claretian missionaries in Yhu, Paraguay in 1985.

She began her career with CAFOD, Development and Peace’s sister agency in the UK, working on an education campaign on land, debt and slavery in the Global South.  She then moved into human rights work with the London based Central America Human Rights Committees, accompanying  study tours and MP delegations to El Salvador.  This work inspired an 18 month stint  as a freelance journalist based in El Salvador, covering Central America for several publications and radio.  After El Salvador,  she began a lifelong fascination with Haiti, where she worked as a human rights monitor with the UN, returning several times to the Caribbean nation both as a journalist and human rights worker.

In 2002, she started her career with Development and Peace as research and advocacy officer, drawing on her experience in Central America with social and human rights organizations to enhance the campaign that called on Canada to regulate its mining companies in their  overseas operations.  Working on a joint campaign with CAFOD, in 2007, she led a delegation of Canadian and UK MPs to Honduras, to gather information on the human rights and social impact of mining in the Central American country.   In 2012, she moved from work on the campaign in Canada to become Latin America programs officer and is today responsible for Haiti, Honduras and Peru.
