User Needs Survey (Improved Syringe Feeding)
We are Biomedical Engineering students working on our Senior Design project that aims to improve current Nasogastric feeding techniques specifically for preemie babies in the NICU. Our current goal is to hear user feedback for the current technologies used within the medical field. We would appreciate it if you could fill out the survey by October 20th, 2023. Please try to answer all questions to the best of your ability. Thank you for your time.

What is your profession?  *
What is your experience with feeding tubes?
*

Do you prefer using gravity based or syringe based feeding? Please explain why.

*
Please rate the following issues on a scale from 1-10. (1 being not concerning and 10 being very concerning)
Baby's toleration of food (e.g. aspiration, vomiting, etc.) *

Are there other issues? If so, please list them and explain if they are more concerning than the ones listed above. *
How often does each of the above mentioned issues occur during a patient’s feeding schedule?
*
Do these issues affect the care of other patients?
*
If you answered yes above, please elaborate on your answer.
Would you like to hold the syringe or have it attached to something when performing gravity-based feeding?
*

How long does it take to fill and attach a syringe to the feeding tube?
*
What brand of feeding tubes does your hospital use?  *
If you would like the syringe to be attached to something, where should it be placed? *
Design Input
What is the ideal rate of fluid/milk flow for feedings?
*
Is there an ideal vertical height for the syringe to be held/placed that provides the ideal flow rate with the gravity-based feeding?
*
Ideally, how many parts should our design include?
