2022 Student Scholarship Application: UALE NE Women's Summer School at Penn State
INSTRUCTIONS: The Northeast Summer School for Union Women offers scholarships to women whose unions or organizations do not offer sufficient financial support to attend. The number of scholarships is limited and will be based on funds available. Priority will be given to young workers, first time attendees, women from underrepresented groups, and those working in non-traditional settings. To apply for a NE scholarship, you will need to explain the steps you have taken to get your union’s support and why this support is not enough to help you attend the Summer School.
Ask your local union leadership for financial support in attending the Summer School. Many unions have a training and development fund or a diversity council that could help you and your union sisters attend the Summer School. In some cases funds may be available from your regional, state or national union. Your state AFL-CIO, local central labor council or area labor federation may be another possible source of scholarship support. Note: request support now, as the process may take time.
Deadline for Applying: Applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis. A Scholarship Committee member may contact you via email or phone to discuss your application. Once the Scholarship Committee has reviewed your application and made a decision, you will be notified as soon as possible about scholarship funding.
The number of scholarships is limited and will be based on funds available – so get your application in as soon as possible for full consideration and no later than June 10, 2022.
