MIXED FARMING – HISTORIES AND FUTURES
This survey form is intended to provide stakeholders with the opportunity to provide feedback and shape further developments.

The basic premise of the project is that we are in a crisis situation (climate, biodiversity, food security) and that a transition to sustainable mixed farming based upon agroecological principles is important.  We want to understand how the kind of information (mainly geographic) and evidence we have marshalled can more effectively be utilised.

This stage of the project ends 31st Dec 2020, but the outputs will be available for much longer...

Our project has used historic data to show how extensive arable agriculture used to be in the past in mid-Wales compared with now.  With the data we have, how can we make best use of the internet? What would you like to see on our data portal?
We collected oral histories (in Welsh with some English transcription) from older generations who remember when mixed farming was more common.  How might we maximise the relevance of this information?
We developed a mapping tool to allow the identification of opportunities for reinstating historical arable agriculture - the relative weighting given to Carbon storage and susceptibility to erosion can be varied.  How useful is this?  Can we make it more useful?
We have provided maps showing how the changing climate effects the suitability of Welsh land for growing a range of crops.  How can we increase the impact and usefulness of this information?
Any other comments?  For example, any suggestions on how we can improve the website?  How can geographic information be better employed to help a transition to more sustainable agroecological mixed farming?
