Team Backyard Bats Interest Form
Are you interested in animals and wildlife? Would you like to add the impressive title of "student researcher" to your resume or college applications? Do you need college elective credits?

Team Backyard Bats is recruiting student researchers for fall 2022! We are a research team created in partnership with McMurry University and the U.S. Department of Education Title V program. More info: https://blogs.mcm.edu/STEMsuccess/research-teams/

Despite representing incalculable value to global ecosystems and human economics, bats are threatened worldwide by habitat loss, hunting, disease, and misinformation. We want to learn more about the local bat population in Taylor County while building a relationship between Taylor County residents and their backyard bats. We will use acoustic "bat detectors" to study the echolocation calls of bats and try to determine where bats are active in the local area.

Student researchers will be highly involved with every step of the research process and will learn valuable skills to add to their resumes or college transfer applications. Researchers will have the option to enroll in a 3-hour course at Cisco College for elective credit. This course will have tuition waived (no cost to the student).
