POLICY ON ALCOHOL AND DRUG CONSUMPTION ON SITE FOR VOLUNTEERS
OBJECTIVE OF THE POLICY

By adopting and implementing this policy, the Corporation du festival de montgolfières
de Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu wishes to:

a) Ensure the health and safety of its employees and of its visitors (suppliers,
volunteers, festival attendees, partners, and others).
b) Ensure the productivity of its operations.
c) Maintain a positive profile in the eyes of the community, its customers and its
suppliers.

SCOPE

This policy applies to all volunteers of the Corporation du festival de montgolfières de
Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.

DECLARATION

The Corporation du festival de montgolfières de Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu recognizes the
importance of offering a healthy, pleasant working environment. It is recognized that
alcohol or drug consumption can have harmful effects on the health and safety of
individuals and greatly disturb their ability to perform required tasks.
All volunteers are therefore prohibited from being under the influence of drugs or alcohol
when reporting for, or during, their planned volunteer shift.
If volunteers are required to take prescribed or over-the-counter medication, such
medication should not interfere with their ability to competently perform their volunteer
duties.

DISCIPLINARY ACTION

For the safety of volunteers and their co-workers, any volunteers caught violating this
policy will be removed from their position and sent home for the remainder of their shift.
 Under Transport Canada policies, the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Hot Air Balloon Festival Corporation endorses a sobriety policy with its employees and volunteers. *
