It is very important for Fairfield City Schools to document all positive COVID cases and exposures that impact our students, faculty and staff. The information has to be reported to the Alabama Department of Public Health and it helps our Superintendent make informed decisions regarding virtual instruction.
As of January 4, 2022, we require: (1) masks be worn inside all buildings/buses and social distancing (2) After receiving a positive test result, individuals MUST ISOLATE for at least 5 days. Individuals may return to work/school after the fifth day if they are fever-free and symptom-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication. A negative test result is not required to return, however, students and employees returning after five days must be on a strict mask wearing mandate for five additional days. You should also email your positive test result to
zodoms@fairfieldk12.org. (3) If you were exposed to a COVID positive individual, you MUST QUARANTINE for five days after the last day of contact if you HAVE NOT BEEN VACCINATED. If you HAVE BEEN vaccinated and come in contact with a COVID positive individual, you DO NOT have to quarantine if you are symptom-free, however, you must complete a consent form for us to view your vaccination form. Email the completed form along with the vaccination card to
zodoms@fairfieldk12.org before you continue to come to work or school. Be sure to watch for symptoms after exposure. If symptoms develop, you should consult your medical professional for next steps and isolate for five days. You may return to school/work after five days if you are symptom-free and fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication. A negative test result is not required to return after being exposed.
