Thrive Youth Dance Festival Application

About:

Thrive Dance educates future generations of young dancers and supports dance artists by enabling creative thinking and inspiring self-confidence. They provide classes in North London where young people ages 12 - 19 can study contemporary dance and choreography in a creative and supportive environment. For the eighth year, the company will be hosting a performance platform and this year it will take place at Middlesex University.

Thrive is looking for other youth companies or secondary school groups to apply to perform at the platform on Saturday 22nd June 2024. Each group will be given access to a professionally produced event, a contemporary dance workshop taught by our professional company dancers, a talk about dance in higher education, a technical rehearsal and the opportunity to invite their friends and family to a ticketed performance.

The company helps to inspire people along their journey to becoming young dancers, artists, and performers. The annual performance platform creates a place for young dancers to have a professional performing experience, gain more performance experience and present themselves as artists within the community.

Criteria:

·  Thrive is a contemporary dance company however, other dance styles are welcome to apply

·   Students should be ages 12 – 19 (Year 7 – gap year) at the time of the performance

·   Student choreographers are also welcome to apply

·   Choreography should be thoughtful and well-crafted to help us create a high-quality dance performance showcasing youth dancers as young artists and performers

·   On the performance day, groups will be required to attend all day for workshops and rehearsals

·   If the group’s application is successful, it is £30 per group/company to participate in this event (total, not per student). All proceeds go towards making the event possible.
